the method i use to connect to the internet is somewhat unstable and completely shuts itself off sometimes, and when it does there's a little dialog at the bottom of the chat window that says something along the lines of "Attempting reconnection in x seconds... [Force?]". often i'm doing something else and don't notice that this happens, and because the automatic reconnection time slowly increases on each failed attempt it eventually reaches five minutes. when i press the force button it will reconnect successfully and load the chat, but shortly afterwards the dialog will reappear and block the chat which forces me to refresh the page and negates the purpose

the connection code reflects the general aesthetics the chat client's codebase goes for in being bad and barely working, i need to take a massive blaster and rewrite a bunch of things without looking at the old code sometime

in the mean time as a bandaid fix i genuinely think https://sockchat.flashii.net currently has a better experience for poor connections
