so i'm an old bastard and i have largely ignored how everything on the internet has changed over the last eight years, which has been nice imo, however i had two thoughts this morning that i would appreciate advice on from anyone that understands how to do this sort of thing now
the first thought is regarding a fancy oscilloscope that i've had sitting around this entire time, as well as a few other pieces of tech that i have no real use for at this point. typically what i've done in the past is just give these kinds of things away to people that would use them, however i do not know anyone that has a use for this thing that isn't ridiculously far away so it's just been sitting on a table staring at me menacingly. additionally, i have some plans for the proceeds that could be done immediately if it sold for a reasonable price. what websites or programs are used now for selling things like this, and are there any special techniques for doing so?
the second thought is a bit more abstract and not immediately actionable, though i have intentions in the next several years to potentially take advantage of it. one of the most abundant resources here that i've had a great difficulty selling locally is wool, both because the price of the raw product is ridiculously low (even if washed and carded) and the demand locally is already filled by a gal running a woolery in wakefield. she's a friend of one of my friends and a very swell gal, we've had coffee together several times discussing the business, but even she has difficulty with demand in the area and cannot accept further supply from someone with no proven market. i've heard of some people selling these sorts of niche items over the internet, and the particular wool from these breeds of sheep i've been told is in very high demand among some circles. if i could determine a market for such a thing, i would gladly learn spinning and felting as well as take greater advantage of the shearing routines possible in this climate. does anyone know where someone could sell these sorts of things over the internet, and possibly where to discuss these matters with those who would be interested? i really have no clue
