i had not but i also love this work by tetsuo basho especially because it has english subtitles so i dont have to guess what its about
a petty question, but i am wondering. during the poetic portion i screenshoted which conjectures the primacy of truth or lies, the middle portion is rendered in the subtitles as "Before the day comes sooner or later" but after thinking about it i figured the parallel between whether day proceeds night or night proceeds day would be a much more fitting comparison to the idea. every culture on earth answers this question differently and the answer often affects deeper philosophical implications within that culture, so i'm wondering if the translation of that subtitle leans more in that direction or is completely unrelated
i will maybe do a mini research on this somewhere next week. hopefully stay tuned
