yeah they used it daily until the biting insects woke up within the last few days, now the animals spend most of their time in and close to the barn since the insects aren't nearly as bad inside. the deep marshes are where the biting flies and mosquitoes are the worst so they aren't wandering around out there right now but after the fever of the first hatch dies down in a week or two they'll probably be back out there. this goat follows me everywhere no matter what so she didn't care

decided to build a landmark over the original fire pit we built the same day we closed on the property in july 2018. i've wanted to do something with it for some time now since it was almost completely overgrown with grass and barely visible but i've been raking all the sticks and etc out of the pasture and finally did something with it. planning to print and frame a sign as well as build a small wooden frame for this old cutout gabe made back in high school that looks really cool. also figured out that my phone can take panoramas so here is one from me standing in front of the sign showing the whole pasture visible from that point

now just need a sign on it saying "THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE" to contrast the one you had on the place of the shack they burnt down

back in southern wi since i had to drive gabe to a funeral so i had to make the pilgrimage again. flash i thought about doing that at first since i made two ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE signs but i decided to keep the second one in my cabin since that really is the spiritual successor to the original shit shack. gabe and i talked it over and decided on a cool idea for the landmark, but for the moment it's a small plaque and that woodcut he made in highschool. we have further plans but its rather personal so i won't post any of it here, anyone curious will have to see it in person

one of our black swedishes brooded on her clutch for a good month or so and now she's got nine ducklings roaming around with her. we've been waiting five years to see our birds raise their own young and so far we've had this success as well as a blue swedish and a bantam hen currently brooding on their clutches, so needless to say we'll have plenty of birds coming up here hopefully. shout out to my #1 nigga gabe for sending me cool stuff to help get through this miserable week
