rank the windows versions
#7663
since i figured it'd be spammy to post in the chat and could make a good subject here, i decided to make it into a thread. just post the order you would rank every windows version in (server versions are optional since they're pmuch identical to their client counterparts)

1. XP
2. 7 and 2000
3. 8.1
4. 98SE
5. Vista
6. 10
7. 8.0
8. 98FE
9. NT 4
10. 95
11. 3.1(1)
12. NT 3.51
13. 3.0
14. ME
15. 2.0
16. 1.0
17. NT 3.1
Dying of boredom, I'll try it all...

#1 is and will probably always be XP, can't think of another operating system that spanned so long throughout so many hardware eras and still managed to remain the best option

#2 would be 7 because it's basically XP 2 but without the deep rooted nostalgia, also probably what vista should've been had it not had its unfortunate development cycle

that's as far as i'm 100% sure on, prolly because they're the only ones i've used as my daily drivers for extended periods of time
shoutout to 2k for being the basis of everything after it and the earliest version i really associate with stability

I've only used a few, so I'll sort those

① Windows 7

The last good Windows. Its still being usable as daily driver as opposed to XP is what ranks it here.

② Windows XP

The peak of Windows. Memorable UI, UX, sound design, and ease of use make for a robust package - an actual release of an OS. It feels finished and business-ready yet also fun and playful.

③ Windows 98

The first Windows I used. The Plus! packs made a special impression on me back then, inserting the Office 2000 CD with that horrible Space theme had a feel to it no software manages to replicate.

④ Windows Vista

it's windows 7 but too early for its time...sad

⑤ Windows 8

Most Windowses I haven't used would go above here. It's not a bad Windows, but it's the start of the descent into madness. Microsoft has seen updates work and allow them to release a half-baked OS and patch it later. Good features are pulled and a horrible bland metro UI replaces the charmful Windows legacy UI.

〇 Windows 10

piece of shit, not even gonna give it a number fuck off

1. XP, to this day the most resilient female ever put on this earth
2. 8.1u1, 7 but better internals
3. 7, another very cute female but you really notice her weaker internals after 8.1u1
4. 98, first window i used and i have a soft spot
5. Me, by elimination, never had problems with her but i didn't do much beyond IE, mspaint and powerpoint on that computer

-1. 10, smell

that covers all the wondow versions i've used as daily drivers, i'm not ranking 8 and 8.1 since they're pretty much just SP0 and SP1, with 8.1u1 being SP2

1. Windows XP - Best version and most memorable version of Windows ever

2. Windows 7 - Best modern version of Windows ever. Windows XPs best friend

3. Windows 8.1 - Metro was bad but it could be avoided and didn't have any bloat

4. Windows Vista - Driver issues and bugs but otherwise a really good OS

5. Windows 10 - Buggy unstable spyware that tries to act like iOS. I dunno how many times I have reinstalled the os because a forced Windows update broke the bootloader or currupted a driver

  1. Stained glass windows. I'm not even that religious they just look nice

  2. Bulletproof glass windows. Because they keep things safe.

  3. Double glazed windows. Cause they keep your house insulated.
