another opera recommendation for sangui, this time with english subtitles

verdi, the composer of this opera, was a man with a very trying life filled to the brim with loss and self doubt. he is known now as one of the greatest composers of the romantic period, having written the music to some of the most notorious tragedies of all time; however, this final work before his death was the only comedy he ever composed. there are very significant differences between this work and contemporary comic operas both in theme and musical composition that i often spend time thinking about, and the final chorus of the work is done in such a way that it makes me wonder if it is a brief, reductive reflection on his own life

i've only ever seen one other production of this opera that i prefer to this one but it is very hard to get ahold of. hopefully u like it :3
