it's world cup season
i could make a thread about how fifa is ruining futeball but nobody cares so i'll just say it here
having 32 teams was more than enough and that there are too many this year (which is 48)(also Italy didn't qualify again in this format lol). They are having disussions to have 64 teams which would be insane and just create more boring matches for the general public.
I know that at it's core WC is just a 4fun tournament (one leg only, every match in "neutral" ground (except for the hosts)) but some of the stuff they have been pulling of lately: Qatar should have never been a hosting country, three huge cohost nations in this year. Having Spain and Portugal as cohosts in 2030 is OK, as there is some sort of cultural link and they are next to each other, although I think both countries would be able to host it on their own. However, they forced Morocco on top of that with ONLY A FEW FORCED MATCHES AT THE BEGINNING IN SOUTH AMERICA. This meant that 2030 will be played in 3 different futebol organizations and that for 2034 WC would have to be on either Asia or Oceania.
So obviouslythey chose Saudi Arabia 2034 with ANOTHER WINTER WORLD CUP THAT DOESN'T FIT INTO THE SCHEDULE.
money moved the spanish supercup finals outside of SPAIN to oil countries and now they are having two world cups in 8 years.
tbh im not that mad since i'd never pay to watch a world cup match live (too expensive, would rather watch with the boys on the tv) but it's just sad
