One aspires to competency and to know their value. For this reason I will be shaving my entire body and flying to china to have my shins broken in an attempt to gain height.
This month is A History of Civilizations by fernand braudel (lowercase because fr*nch)

I liked crime and punishment when I read it but I forgot almost everything, and i only read that 3 years ago. I like Dostoevsky though, I enjoyed Notes from Underground. The Gambler was a simpler but also more solid work of his. I should probably read White Nights someday.
Other than boring productivity books like Atomic Habits, I've read Dune Messiah. It was alright, much better than the first one. The main problem with the first one is that it's really predictable and of little substance. Second one was less predictable, but I'm starting to think Frank Herbert usually fails at writing female characters... or to make me care about that any character at all. I think I'd like the movies more, haven't seen them yet.
Another book that I've read recently is Player Piano. It's a novel that takes place in a world in which most jobs have been automatized. I feel like the pace was not the best but that is excusable since it was his first novel. Still a good read. It's amazing how Americans don't have the biggest reputation for being very intelligent overseas yet they have many decent books made in the 19th and 20th century.
Last past read I'm going to talk about is All Quiet in the Western Front. Funtime recommended it to me after I told him I liked A Farewell to Arms. I think All Quiet is one of my favourite books even though it made me cry a lot. There even is a Netflix adaptation, I haven't watched it but I know some people who have and they really enjoyed it.
I'm currently reading The Oddysey since Nolan is releasing a movie about it in a month. It's ok but it has this small issue that I already know some stuff about the plot due to it being engrained into popular culture.

i also read white nights + a gentle creature + the dream of a ridiculous man, i enjoyed white nights a lot and really feel the "wow he's just like me" throughout that story and crime and punishment so far
