It's definitely darker than this pic yeah, I didn't care enough to make a good picture. I'd say it was as dark as when the sun has just gone through the horizon, it is dark but not as much as midnight.

I think it's not worth it to drive for more than an hour and a half for something like this, I'd say you have to go 2 hours before to find a good place and see the start, and then wait for all that time for a minute of total eclipse. Don't forget that you also have to go back...

Totality next year will be at southern spain, but I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there, it's insanely hot over there at this time of the year lol
