What are your plans or is there gonna be a POS Ready 2009 type hack like XP had.

I use arch linux so I dont give a fuck about microsoft products.

i'll probably keep running windows 7 for as long as viable (e.g. third party support), and then reluctantly switch to either a linux distro (probably devuan) or windows 10

devuan is the only distro other than arch linux I like

Switching from windows 7 to linux was the best thing I ever did

does it really matter? i mean, the system is still going to work just as it did before support ended. i know microsoft doesn't want people using windows 7 anymore and they're trying their damndest to get people to migrate to 10 by breaking whatever they can get away with breaking on the old system, but at the end of the day, shit's still gonna work just fine just as vista and xp and 2000 and me and 98 and beyond have

True XP was useable until like 2017 if you knew what you where doing

hence "(e.g. third party support)", software is gonna start relying on useless new APIs exclusive to 10+ which will rule out windows 7 support

depending on the type of software you use, it still is usable to this day

firefox dropped support for XP after version 52, chrome a year before that and the same will happen to 7
that's what i'm talking about

As long as steam still runs on windows 7, I dont really have to worry about my secondary machine at all. All I do on it are verify that mingw cross gcc binaries work properly and play a few games that dont run in proton or linux native. I dont love linux and I dont love windows, but I do love developing on linux sooooo much more. I don't recall getting any core lockups or nearly as many BSODs on windows as ive gotten kernel panics on linux. Might only be due to the massive uptime I get when not auto updating on windows though so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
