I've been thinking of and planning to add an art/music portfolio to my site for a long time now but every time I try to go more in-depth I get stuck on the same issue - how can I make this work without it looking like a lost child?
I've thought about combining the art and music portfolios in a video (or a couple of them), but then people would have to play that and it takes away all the Johnny Racecars that stumble upon the site with a mobile phone at work.
Listing them separately would also feel weird, like a grid of autoplay videos might fit but a div filled with random songs just feels crude, unless I really heavily style the site's entries (I'll do that anyway).
Any cute ideas or portfolios of your own?
Do your tracks have some kind of album art associated with them? I don't think there's any reason you couldn't use a gridded layout for both, just use album art (or like a music note icon if missing) for the thumbnail and find a good way to display the track's title. Play/pause upon clicking a track (w/ visual feedback too, like have play/pause icons that appear when you hover over the thumbnail)
Otherwise yeah, grid for art and (very stylized) list for music. Definitely don't just plop <audio>'s in the list view w/o customizing it a lot

I once shot a man in Reno, just to watch him die.
unfortunately no albums yet and the single-song album art is just dumb picture of oc on some background..
..that or a voxel banana xd
but yeah i should probably get started on the grid n list
