We have a typing speed test but how fast can you read? If you're too lazy to measure it yourself, this video gives a rough estimate:
Edit: I forgot to say for myself. I tend to read around 700 WPM though I'll slow down depending on the kind of text.

i can read somewhere around 1800+ wpm. not sure why lol. it be cool to find an actual test for this.

i kept up with the 900 part in the video but i dont naturally read that fast if im actually attempting to absorb information
got the same sitch as nook, if i actually have a paper in front of me i tend to revert to 150
Yeah that's the difficulty with the video, it is good to see the maximum but calculating the mean does need a better sample
this sorta test doesnt really work with how i read, i can keep up with the 900wpm and can get the 1800 in a few tries, but that doesnt really mirror the way i actually read
i think i read pretty quickly, but i dont read individual words, i read sentences (and sometimes paragraphs) at once since languages have tons of scaffolding you can tend to just ignore lol, you cant do that with this kinda video tho
wonder if theres good tests for this, i tried swiftread.com/reading-speed-test and got

my "reading to actually understand" speed varies but if the text is not uni-hellhole-produced bs it's around 250
functionally i probably read slower than 150 wpm because i have to subvocalize in my mind or i cant actually comprehend what i'm reading. i can read fiction or history books at close to 300 wpm if i get into it but for practical references or philosophical works i can stare at one or two pages for an hour and still not understand what i'm reading. usually i have to think about something for a long time to feel like i actually understand it, but i've been friends with people that have very quick comprehension and i always thought it was really cool
the weird consequence of this is that i write several times faster than i read because of my tendency to subvocalize and organize my thoughts as though i'm constantly giving an oration, and my comprehension is significantly faster when i'm told something than when i read something
