I got me a Ziggo C7 wifi extender which is just a rebranded TP-Link Archer C7v2 which people commonly say is the best budget router for OpenWRT. I specifically got it to replace the shitty huawei repeater my sister bought a few years ago but I got curious and tried using it as an actual router for my WAN connection. Here are two speedtests with the first one being of the default T-Mobile ZYXEL router and the second one being the Archer C7 running OpenWRT. Both wired connections.
The Archer C7 performs pretty well at gigabit speeds for a over 7 year old router. The ZYXEL however outperforms it probably due to being better specced. All in all I'd recommend the Archer C7 as a cheap WiFi AP/Repeater or as a router if you don't have a connection that goes over 100Mb/s especially if you're in the Netherlands and are able to get a hold of a Ziggo branded one for cheap (I got mine for 10 bucks lol).
