Patchii
Patchii is a software forge/Git hosting service powered by Forgejo that you can use today! This is not an announcement of it becoming available or it being a new service I offer, but moreso just a notice to let everyone know that it exists and you are free to host or mirror your sources to it. You don't have to ask for permission! Granted your project does not take up multiple gigabytes of storage space, in which case you probably should ask for permission... On the sign in page there is a button that lets you log in with your Flashii ID, just press that and if you do not have a profile yet it should automatically make one for you.
Why should you use Patchii instead of a bigger service like Github, GitLab or even the "primary" Forgejo instance of Codeberg? Honestly a good question that I cannot give a solid answer to, it is entirely up to your own decision. For myself it is a mixture of control, which does not exactly apply to anyone else using Patchii since I am the data controller, being tired of big companies making annoying decisions and also hoping to foster a sense of community at a smaller scale. Whether you share any of these sentiments or have your own, know that Patchii is there to accommodate you if you so desire. Granted the content you wish to host will not get me in trouble somehow.
Private repositories are available and I promise to respect your privacy and not snoop around in them unless it is shared with me directly. The best I can do to prove that is to give you is the ol' Linus Sebastian "dude just trust me" but the same is true for any other software forge as far as I am aware. I don't think Github applies any form of data protection on the server side, in fact I know they don't.
I have been dabbling with self hosting a Git service since at least 2016. There have been various iterations of a git.flash.moe, and Patchii started out as one of those back a few years ago after the Microsoft flavour really began to show in the Github user experience. Originally it ran on Gitea, but after the group running that began to show signs of being shitty themselves I decided to jump ship to Codeberg's fork, Forgejo, last year. Which means I have pretty much actually used every major fork of Gogs/Go Git Service, given Gitea itself was a fork of that, which is a pretty funny detail.
Sorry if this news post did not really apply to you, for those not interested in the subject of software development :)
