yesterday while fellowshipping some friends told me about a fantastic festival down in southern wisconsin that's all about raising sheep and the production of wool textiles, and i was absolutely thrilled to discover they have free classes for farmers and textile manufacturers about the various processes involved in not only the wool business but also in areas regarding goat milk and cheese production. it's an expo all about small ruminates generally, and as far as things currently stand i don't see my land being capable of supporting larger livestock because of the marginal marshland graze so i don't have much of a choice but to continue raising sheep and goats for ruminate livestock. gabe and i have always wanted to get into the textile business since we always have shorn wool every year but so far we've had no leads into the industry nor any practical knowledge about using the material so it's all just sitting around collecting dust at the moment, but i would very much love to use it for something. wool is hands down my favorite fabric and i would love to see it more readily available to the average consumer than nylon and other worthless petroleum-based polymers
my good polish buddy ryszard has a house down in edgerton which is near the event and he was very interested when i told him about it so we'll be attending it together. i'm planning to be there all three days to take notes on the various subjects being taught and hopefully to make some connections with other folks in the business and hopefully buy some quality woolen merchandise to bring back to the freezing north just before winter sets in. i don't think anyone here is even close to that area nor interested in the subject but if for whatever reason you are feel free to stop by and say hi!
