for the last two weeks or so i've had the same type of dream every single night with minor variations. i'm in some impossibly labrynthine underground complex with no windows that seems to span forever, sometimes alone and sometimes with strangers that seem familiar yet are unrecognizable. i'm both trying to live and find a way out at once, meaning i only wander for so long and so far in one direction before doubling back and going back to where my "room" is. the people in the dream never follow me but rather stay in the same areas around where the dream starts. the paths and rooms always change and are never consistent, and in the dream i try to figure out where to go and why things seem to constantly change but never have a consistent answer. everything is filthy with dust and grease, some rooms incredibly large with enormous broken machines or other strange objects in them while some rooms are the size of a closet in one direction and very long in the other
this last one in particular was strange, as i distinctly remember there was this one massive room with a dirt floor that a bunch of the strangers were tilling up to try and grow some plants, but the ceiling was solid with no windows and the only light was that same dim ambience that filled the rest of the complex. the dirt felt wrong, false, but i can't explain why. no one planted seeds and nothing was growing, but they were working like mad to make rows and mound up dirt as if the act itself would conjure plants out of the ground. later on in my wanderings i found a strange flat boat in a filthy pool that i managed to get running, and somehow a bay door opened on the far wall that went "outside" to which i hastily drove towards, only to have the boat suddenly sink. i began drowning while looking up at a dim, opaque sky not too dissimilar to the ambiance of the labrynth. i woke up after i began sinking
i've already had difficulties sleeping lately, and these bastard dreams make me never want to sleep again as they very deeply unsettle me. of course i always wake up relieved to see the beautiful forest outside the windows next to my bed, but the dreams always feel absurdly long as if years of real time are passing. i wonder what it means
