So earlier today I on my way to pick up some e-waste I had ordered online. I could've had it delivered to my door but it was 1 whole euro cheaper to just have it delivered to pseudo post office thing they hide in some stores and you know how it is with 1 whole euros. That's beside the point anyway. While I was on my bike I noticed a spork lying on the road, but thinking about it more I was a little bit doubtful in whether the utensil in question even technically counts as a spork.

The spork in question had the following shape:

Now the thing is, sure this has a fork and a spoon as part of the same utensil, but is this a spork? It's just a spoon and a fork taped together. A total scam!

This type of device is much more true to the meaning of the name "spork" I'd say:

Here the fork and spoon have truly come together in an inconvenient matrimony of both not being able to use its total capacity to hold a liquid nor are the prongs long enough to properly serve as a meat stabbing device. A totally useless piece of garbage. True to the spirit of the spork.

Anyway, I wish to see what the spork community has to say on this matter. Please feel free to have your say in the replies below!

i see what you mean and i would definitely prefer a sort of disambiguation in nomenclature because both instruments follow totally different theories of operation. i think the one-side-spoon-one-side-fork creature should be called a foon

First of all, IF the spork is made out of plastic it is usable and i do not mind using her. However, if she is made out of the very thin bamboo or cardboard, I break them in half and use them as chopsticks.

The "spork" you saw, I think it is no spork. I think that utensil doesn't even deserve to exist. Lets say you use the spoon end to have some soup or whatever and then you want a bite of something else. Leftover liquid flows down it and onto your hands. Day ruined.

So in conclusion i think a spork must have the spoon and fork part combined on one side. And that other thing should be binned
hosimati suisei please

that half spoon half fork thing looks unweildy.... you'd have to clean it or be careful when switching sides....
