upon sleeping again for a few hours and thinking about it while awake, i'm pretty sure the deer in that dream was a strange recollection of a specific male goat we had several years ago. one spring many years ago we had a doe give birth to a buckling that she refused to raise, so we fed him on bottles until he was grown. having been raised from infancy by people he became very friendly and was always a favorite of anyone visiting, coming up to anyone and enjoying pets on the top of his forehead. we felt lucky to have such a well-behaved buck, but by the third autumn of his life this changed very suddenly
both goats and sheep go through an estrus about the time of fall when nighttime temperatures get near freezing, during which the males begin secreting a foul-smelling black tar looking androgen through their skins and will usually become slightly more aggressive than normal, though up to this point we had never seen that aggression aimed towards humans. that third autumn when the rut began he started violently ramming into people at high speeds, and would trample over them when on the ground. fortunately, this only happened to me and gabe once, and we were both able to wrestle the 180-lb goat off of us (though, because gabe is smaller and lighter he recalled later that he was seriously considering drawing his knife and stabbing the goat in the neck because he could not overpower it at first.) we built a small room in the corner of the barn and locked him in it most of the time after it happened to both of us, and eventually after his behavior continued to worsen and grow more violent we decided to slaughter him with an intense prejudice before the rut was over. as a final insult, his meat was so fouled by the pheromone that it could not be endured even after twice-boiling, and was only fit to be fed to dogs
the battering of the head of the deer in the dream reminded me of how the goat would fight people, and the dull eyes reminded me of how the goat would look at you when he would start becoming violent. we had a black dog collar that we put on our most productive milk goat, as it made them easier to lead to the milking stand. i saw a funny deer (haha funny, not spooky funny) in the woods earlier that day so it was on the mind

i must have slept really well because i had a very elaborate dream about playing splatoon despite not toucing it in a little while
it was a splatfest and i was using the eliter with beakons and kraken on the pro battle mode, which was tower control instead of turf war on a combination of splatoon 1's saltspray rig and splatoon 3's undertow spillway maps. the game was just my entire vision so that was cool being completely immersed instead of being sat down holding a controller.
one of the first games i can remember i missed really easy shots to make on the other charger on the tower and had a good Crushing Lead Loss at 57 points and thought to myself wow i shouldve just farmed kraken. on another game in umami ruins i also found out the hard way that for some reason Pro mode lets you check the map, but you can't jump to teammates (the jump buttons are grayed out) and a wipeout just ends the game like in salmon run. i think it was nook that said something about wipeouts like that during a stream a while ago so maybe that was an influence.
the rotation switched to splat zones and there was a moment i got really frustrated that i couldn't cap this huge boxy zone (it was also a double zone but they sit right next to each other) while angrily tap shotting eliter even though it was 90% inked and while matchmaking i saw flash/nook/ikg online and even niramou but he picked a different team than us..
oh yeah and on that Crushing Lead Loss game i also remember me and my team wiping and us all going Booyah as it would appear in game and i spammed this way at them when i saw 2 people sharking that left corner under the platform at spawn and being really salty they weren't killing anything you cant escape salt even while asleep
